Dallas Stars’ Brenden Morrow plays for the cause
DALLAS, TX – June 16, 2008 – Provident Realty Advisors, Inc. hosted its 8th Annual “Driving for Kids” Golf Tournament to raise money for Abilene-based New Horizons Ranch & Center, Inc., a non-profit agency whose mission is “to provide an environment where children, families and staff are able to heal and grow through caring relationships and unconditional love and acceptance.”
Held at The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, the tournament raised more than $95,000; an increase of over $20,000 from the last tournament. Among the attendees was Dallas Stars’ Brenden Morrow who played for the cause.
“Provident’s contributions have been more than generous and have helped us serve more than 1,200 children and families each year in surrounding Texas communities, while bringing awareness to our cause,” said Michael Redden, Executive Director of New Horizons. “The company’s active support of New Horizons provides much needed resources and hope for at-risk children who desperately need the intensive treatment and supportive relationships provided at our facilities. We are so grateful for Provident’s help which enables us to continue our efforts.”
Provident has been supporting New Horizons since 2002. Leon Backes, founder and president of Provident, led the efforts and has spent the last four years bridging a strong, impactful relationship between the company and New Horizons, which has created great results for their team and the community.
“We are dedicated to supporting New Horizons to ensure its continued success and the well-being of our state’s most at-risk children,” said Backes. “The agency provides a valuable service, and we’ll do whatever we can to help.”
Previous contributions from the Backes family and Provident became the seed money to support the idea of building a New Horizons Community Center of Care in Abilene to serve a region in desparate need for such programs, which broke ground in June 2007. The first phase, Audrey Grace House, is named in memory of a child lost by Mr. and Mrs. Leon Backes.
